🔥 Good Morning from Top Tickers

🔥 This Biotech Stock Just Dropped 23% Before the Bell

The market is repricing on new information this morning, and the harshest read is landing on a clinical-stage name that had to tell investors one of its programs is stopping to check itself. Everything else on the downside is a slower burn: an analyst call built on engagement trends, and a pair of producers guiding a quarter lower.

The bid is coming from two unrelated places. Bitcoin reclaimed a level it had lost, which is lifting anything holding the asset or handling the order flow, while a chipmaker is higher on an upgrade that is explicitly about the size of the selloff rather than the state of the business.

🚀 Pre-Market Movers

The Biggest Gainers, Ranked

Strategy (MSTR): +3%

Bitcoin crossed back above $78,000 with a 2% move, and the crypto treasury company took the largest gain in the complex. Strategy's balance sheet is the whole trade here: when the coin moves, the equity built to hold it tends to move further, and this morning it did.

MACOM Technology Solutions (MTSI): +2%

BMO Capital Markets upgraded the chipmaker to Outperform, arguing the valuation became attractive after a decline of more than 35% from its 2026 highs. The firm's point is that nothing broke in the data center, industrial, and defense businesses while the multiple compressed, which makes this a call on the selloff rather than on the company.

Robinhood (HOOD): +2%

The trading platform is climbing on the same bitcoin move. Robinhood is the closest thing this group has to a retail sentiment gauge, so a bid here says the enthusiasm is reaching the accounts that actually trade the swings rather than just the balance sheets holding the asset.

Coinbase (COIN): +1%

Coinbase is higher on bitcoin's move but is the smallest gainer among the crypto names in premarket. The exchange earns on activity rather than on the price of the asset itself, which is why a 2% day in the coin does not carry the same weight here as it does for a company holding it outright.

Nvidia's CEO calls this "the next biggest opportunity after AI." If you missed Apple before the iPhone... a run of 7,537% at its peak... this may be your second look at that kind of setup. Get the 3 ticker symbols here.

📉 Pre-Market Movers

The Biggest Losers, Ranked

Xenon Pharmaceuticals (XENE): -23%

Xenon paused new patient enrollment across its clinical studies in major and bipolar depression after neuropsychiatric side effects showed up in the trials. Management expects the pause to be temporary, but a quarter of the stock came off anyway, which tells you how much of this story investors had been pricing on that program running clean.

Netflix (NFLX): -4%

Wells Fargo downgraded the streamer to Underweight, flagging worrying engagement trends and a weaker content slate in the back half of 2026. The argument is not about this year: the bank is saying both feed through to slower margin expansion in 2027 and 2028, which shifts the debate to whether the profitability story has a ceiling.

Steel Dynamics (STLD): -2%

The steel producer guided third-quarter earnings below what analysts polled by FactSet were modeling, and shares are giving ground. Steel is where investors go for leverage to industrial demand, so a guide that lands under the bar gets read as a statement about that demand rather than about one quarter.

Nucor (NUE): -2%

Nucor delivered the same soft third-quarter guidance, with management pointing to higher earnings in steel mills and steel products, and lower earnings in raw materials. The mix is the useful detail: finished steel is holding while the input side absorbs the pressure, a narrower problem than a broad guidance cut would imply.

👀 What We’re Watching

Here’s One Ticker That’s Trending Today

General Motors (GM)

GM is the fastest-climbing name on r/wallstreetbets this morning after Lockheed Martin (LMT) confirmed that GM Defense delivered its first housing components for the Patriot PAC-3 MSE interceptor, 22 days after the contract was signed in early August. Mention volume is up on ApeWisdom's WSB tracker, and the argument running through the threads is whether a legacy automaker just uncovered a second business.

CEO Mary Barra has guided to roughly $700 million of defense revenue this year, the stock rose about 3% Thursday on the Lockheed news, and it is close to flat in premarket around $86.60. Third-quarter results land October 20, and that may be where traders find out whether the missile work is a rounding error or something the market has to start valuing separately.

✌️That’s it for today.
