🔥 Good Morning from Top Tickers
🔥 This Cloud Stock Just Jumped 17% Premarket
AI money is doing the heavy lifting this morning. The day's biggest gainer is a cloud company that just signed a multibillion-dollar, multiyear deal with one of the leading AI labs. A software name is also climbing after an analyst recast it as an AI growth story.
On the other side of the tape, investors are punishing shrinking sales. A children's book publisher is sliding on a deeper loss, and an athletic apparel giant is slipping after Wall Street turned bearish on its sales outlook.

🚀 Pre-Market Movers
The Biggest Gainers, Ranked
Akamai Technologies (AKAM): +17%
The cloud computing company is soaring after announcing a seven-year power contract and $11.6 billion deal with Anthropic. Akamai also issued Anthropic a warrant to buy up to roughly 5% of its shares, which turns a big customer win into something closer to a strategic partnership and puts Akamai squarely inside the AI infrastructure trade.
Synopsys (SNPS): +4%
HSBC (HSBC) upgraded the software company to Buy from Hold, with analyst Frank Lee arguing that its new business model will make Synopsys a high-growth AI beneficiary. Getting recast as an AI growth story, rather than just a software name, is the kind of call that can change how the market values a stock.

📉 Pre-Market Movers
The Biggest Losers, Ranked
Scholastic (SCHL): -10%
The children's book publisher's fiscal first-quarter loss came in deeper than a year ago, and revenue slipped at the same time. A wider loss on shrinking sales gives investors very little to hold onto, and the stock is paying for it.
Nike (NKE): -3%
Bank of America (BAC) downgraded the athletic apparel company to Underperform from Neutral, saying it expects sales declines from the second quarter through the rest of fiscal 2027. A forecast of shrinking sales stretching across most of a fiscal year is a hard message for any consumer brand, and investors are taking it seriously.

👀 What We’re Watching
Here’s One Ticker That’s Trending Today
Moderna (MRNA)
Moderna is back in the Reddit conversation. ApeWisdom shows mentions across tracked boards up more than 500% in a day, and one of the words most often attached to the ticker on r/wallstreetbets is "puts." After a run that has it on track to be one of September's best performers in the S&P 500, the debate has shifted from whether the cancer vaccine story is real to whether the stock has gotten ahead of it.
The rally traces back to August 19, when Moderna and Merck (MRK) reported that their personalized cancer vaccine, paired with Keytruda, succeeded in a Phase 3 melanoma trial, and the stock is up roughly 500% this year. Full data is due at the ESMO Congress on October 24, a presentation that could either validate the run or hand the skeptics their opening.
✌️That’s it for today.
