🔥 Good Morning from Top Tickers
🔥 This Surgery Stock Just Jumped 24% Premarket
Deals are doing the heavy lifting before the bell. A healthcare services company is soaring on a report that it’s nearing a take-private deal, a natural gas producer is jumping on a $50 billion-plus all-stock acquisition, and an off-price retailer is climbing on a fresh Buy rating.
On the downside, a single social media post is doing real damage, with one comment from Elon Musk dragging AI cloud stocks lower. A credit-score company is sliding on a downgrade tied to its own pricing decision, and a vaccine maker’s sell-off is stretching into a third day.

🚀 Pre-Market Movers
The Biggest Gainers, Ranked
Surgery Partners (SGRY): +24%
The healthcare services company is surging after the Financial Times reported Sunday that Bon Secours Mercy Health is nearing a $6 billion take-private deal that could be announced as soon as today. The reported $20 per share price is now the number that matters: with a deal this close to the finish line, the stock is trading on the odds it gets done, not on the business itself.
Range Resources (RRC): +13%
The natural gas producer is jumping after EQT (EQT) agreed to buy it in an all-stock deal valuing Range at more than $50 billion. EQT is down 5%, the classic merger split where the target collects the premium and the buyer’s shareholders absorb the cost. Because Range holders will be paid in EQT stock, Range now largely trades on how EQT shares hold up between now and the expected first-quarter 2027 close.
Ross Stores (ROST): +4%
UBS (UBS) upgraded the off-price retailer to Buy, arguing that growing store productivity will help send the stock above $300. It’s a thesis built on getting more out of the stores Ross already runs, and a target that far above current levels gives the bulls a concrete number to rally around.

📉 Pre-Market Movers
The Biggest Losers, Ranked
Fair Isaac (FICO): -10%
Wells Fargo (WFC) downgraded the data analytics company to Equal Weight from Overweight after Fair Isaac said it won’t raise prices, a move meant to encourage lenders to keep using its FICO score. Holding prices specifically to keep customers on board tells investors the company sees retention as worth protecting, and Wells Fargo isn’t waiting around to see what that costs.
Moderna (MRNA): -8%
The sell-off is extending after Thursday’s leak of results from a closely watched cancer vaccine study, with the stock already down more than 18% across Thursday and Friday. A third straight day of losses suggests the market is still repricing what that program is worth and hasn’t found a level it’s comfortable with yet.
CoreWeave (CRWV): -4%
The AI cloud provider is leading a neocloud sell-off after Elon Musk posted on X that “200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death.” Peers Iren (IREN) and Nebius (NBIS) are down 3% and ~1%, a sign investors are treating the comment as a warning for the whole group rather than a knock on any single name.

👀 What We’re Watching
Here’s One Ticker That’s Trending Today
GameStop (GME)
GameStop is lighting up r/wallstreetbets again as the countdown to Friday’s warrant expiration kicks in. On StockTwits, retail traders have been cheering a streak of insider buying led by CEO Ryan Cohen, with some calling the setup “GME 2.0.”
The roughly 59 million warrants carry a $32 exercise price and stop trading before the bell on October 30, while the stock sits around $25, well below that level. Whether the deadline passes quietly or turns into a catalyst for the meme crowd is what traders seem to be weighing this week.
✌️That’s it for today.
